Hagelkruis Valentijn is a Z2 Level International dressage pony & approved stallion with 3 outstanding paces. A regular member of the Dutch Pony Riders A-team, he won the 2011 Dutch Indoor Pony Championship. Valentijn and his sire have both been awarded the “Sport” predicate. Valentijn’s dam has Arab ancestry and has been awarded the “Elite” predicate.

Dam:

Dutch Welsh part bred, Oosting Manuella is out of Oosting Petronella who has many of the famous names in sports pony breeding in her pedigree including Downland Chevalier, Downland Folklore & Silvertops Ricco.

Damsire:

Verona’s Bo-Gi is the top part bred Welsh breeding pony stallion in Holland, producing many licenced stallions, and has been awarded the highest stallion honour “Preferent”. Bo-Gi’s own damsire is the famous “Valentino” (as Oakley(C) Bubbling bobbety was known in the Netherlands) who has been very influential in modern sports pony breeding especially through his daughter Golden Charm, who produced European Champion Golden Dancer and top broodmare Golden Dream (dam of Power & Paint and Golden Girl).

Performance

Graded and Performance Tested by the NWPCS studbook in 2012, Amigo was imported at the end of 2012.  In 2013 he was competed by an 11 year old rider, who was herself new to dressage, and they won at the Under 25’s Championships and many other classes with scores of 70%+. In 2014 they were 2nd in the Preliminary class at the Northern Regional Championships at Bishop Burton and they were then 5th at the 2014 Winter Championships.

Amigo went on to compete for GB at FEI pony level in 2016 when he was just 8 years old at CDIPs in Le Mans (FRA) and Diepenbeek (BEL).  He returned to Le Mans in 2018 and also competed at the Hickstead CDIP the same year where he won the Pony Individual class and was 6th in the Freestyle to Music.

Amigo has fantastic confirmation with an uphill frame, which is emphasised in the way he works with his active front and hind leg. He also enjoys jumping so is not specifically just a dressage prospect. He acts like a gelding, with perfect manners at all times. He can be used in the morning and ridden in the afternoon as it does not affect his calm, relaxed nature.

Offspring/Breeding Advice

Amigo’s first foals were born in Holland in 2013 and inherited his stunning uphill frame, loose light athleticism and fabulous calm, kind nature. In the UK, his primary focus has been on his competition career so  there are only a limited number of foals on the ground.

He would suit both dressage and eventing mares as he has a fantastic natural jump.
