Origins |
|
Sire: Forest View Sparrow is the son of the legendary Ashfield Bobby Sparrow, the first ever Connemara stallion to win a Gold medal at the European Showjumping Championships. He was selected for the Irish Pony Team in both Germany and Belgium and won Gold in the Belgian Grand Prix at la Hulpe at the 1980 European Championships and Winner of the Millstreet Derby. Ashfield Bobby Sparrow has sired numerous International winning progeny.
Dam: Lady Macdara's dam line goes back to the famous stallions Carna Dun & Mac Dara. Carna Dun is among the most influential stallions in the Connemara Pony Breeders Studbook. His influence on the breed can be measured by how difficult it is to find a high-performance Connemara without him in their breeding. They constantly breed on and possess an excellent temperament and produce excellent jumpers from generation to generation.
Damsire: Derrigragh Robin is by Robin Hood out of a mare by Moon Round Rock. |

Jack is an exceptionally versatile stallion and excels in dressage, eventing and showjumping. He currently competes at medium level British Dressage placing 5th in the BD Area Festival in August 2024 and scored 67.94% for M73 in June 2024. He has qualified for the BD Area Festival Championships three times and placed 6th in elementary bronze in 2023. He was selected to compete for the South & East region for the BD Senior Inter Regionals in 2023. Jack qualified for the BRC national dressage championships placing 3rd in elementary and 6th at medium in September 2024. He has competed in the BD Combined Training series at 90cm and 80cm qualifying for the championships in both. Jack shows great confidence and aptitude for eventing and has competed up to 80cm with a 22.5 dressage test and double clear. Jack shows great capability in showjumping and eventing and has the ability to go further but the owner and rider are predominately focused on dressage.
At his SPSS stallion grading in August 2024 he was awarded 80.33% and was the champion graded stallion of the year. He scored 8.5/10 for both his flatwork and loose jumping. With fabulous comments including ‘lovely attitude and rideabilty, very relaxed in hand’ An established dressage pony already doing very well, a positive addition for sports pony breeding.’ and for his loose jumping ‘very good attitude, confident knows the job and enjoys it’
In 2024 Jack was awarded the highest placed stallion and dressage pony for two years running in the BCPS performance awards He gained the BCPS silver stallion award for dressage and is well on his way to achieving the gold award for 2025. |

Offspring/Breeding Advice | |
Jack has a fabulous temperament and is stabled together with mares, geldings and young stock.
2025 will be his first year at stud. In addition to breeding top performance Connemaras we feel Jack would be the perfect sire to produce small sports horses when crossed with thoroughbreds or warmbloods due to his athleticism and confirmation.
As a carrier of the cream gene, his progeny have a 50/50 chance of inheriting it and being Palomino, Buckskin or Smokey Black depending on the colour of the mare.
Jack is a carrier of the Hoof Wall Separation Disease (HWSD) gene. This is only relevant with mares (generally purebred Connemara) that also carry the HWSD gene. See the BCPS website for more info.
