Sire: At his SPSS grading in October 2004, the British Showjumping (BS) Silver disk stallion Grey Palace was the star of the day and was described by the judges as a 'mini Milton’. Grey Palace, already 138cm champion at the Horse of the Year Show a couple of weeks earlier, gained the much sought after SPSS Elite status, achieving a record-breaking three maximum 10s (for type, ridden jumping and competition record) and an overall score of 87.5% under SPSS judges Celia Clarke and Claire Ballantyne and, of course, full BSJA approval from BSJA judges Geoff Glazzard and Tom Hudson to round off a remarkable year of success for him and his young rider Jordan Whittaker.
Grey Palace is an outstanding 138cm JA pony who was originally ridden in the UK by Jordan Whittaker who presented him for SPSS grading in 2004. Grey Palace scored highly at the grading gaining the much sought after SPSS Elite status on the strength of his performance results, achieved three maximum 10s (for type, ridden jumping and competition record) and an overall score of 87.5% under SPSS judges Celia Clarke and Claire Ballantyne and, of course, full BSJA approval from BSJA judges Geoff Glazzard and Tom Hudson to round off a remarkable year of success for him and his young rider Jordan Whittaker.
Jordan and Grey Palace won and were placed at many top shows, including winning at both the Pony of the Year and the Horse of the Year Shows in 2004. In 2005, Jordan’s sister took over the ride and also won at the Pony of the Year show. More good results followed with different riders before Grey Palace again won at the Pony of the Year show in 2009 with Darby Ward. Since October 2010, Darby's younger sister Taylor and more recently Phoebe Locke have been competing Grey Palace and their successes mean that (as at end Jan 2012), Grey Palace has now won £10,609 (including £1,027 won in Ireland) which should upgrade him from "Silver" to "Silver Elite" status with British Showjumping. This high level has only been reached by two pony stallions before (Tiny Tim and Indien de Here) and it confirmed Grey Palace's status as the top 138cm jumping stallion in the UK.
Grey Palace is still competing in British Showjumping classes 2022 - at the age of 27 and 20 years since his first BS event!
Due to his competitive career taking precedence over his stud career, Grey Palace has only had only a few foals registered with the SPSS. However, one of his 2011 foals, Champs Palace, out of Abee Bye Georgia (by SPSS graded Aimbry Chester) competed for GB in the 1m30 classes at both the Wierden (NED) and Harthill (GBR) FEI International Pony Shows in 2021. |

Dam: Mousti Van Overis Z is an SPSS graded mare bred in Belgium from strong show jumping lines. Her dam, Aria is by Perhaps vh Molenvondel, a BWP stallion who is registered with the FEI as "Perhaps V Berkenbroeck" and placed 2nd in the 2016 Sopot Grand Prix ridden by Corten Stefan BEL) and whose progeny includes 2015 Knokke Hippique Grand Prix winner Papillon Z. Perhaps vh Molenvondel himself is by the famous Jus de Pomme who won individual and team Gold for Germany at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Mousti herself showjumped, winning British Showjumping classes upto and including 1.00m - with qualifying double clears for Senior Discovery, Senior British Novice and 1.00m Novice Scope Championships
Damsire: Another SPSS Elite stallion, the outstanding WPCS Sec D, Machno Carwyn is one of the best show-jumping pony stallions in Europe. When he was competing he was the only pony stallion ever to have won a gold medal at the European Showjumping Championships, which he won twice (and once 4th ridden by a young boy of 12). No other stallion had gained a medal in the first 29 years of the Championship. At the time, he is also the only pony stallion ever to win the Swiss National Championships, which he has won 4 times and once the bronze medal. Since the beginning of his sport career in 1997, Machno Carwyn has been placed more than 220 times in official competitions, approximately 140 times in international CSIP/CSIOP, winning more than 50 times. He has been placed more than 25 times in international Grand Prix of which he won 7. He has more than 14’000 Swiss francs in official winnings (an international Grand Prix counted as 150 Swiss francs, so it just goes to show how much he won).
Machno Carwyn is also a renown sire of Showjumping ponies with just his German progeny having won nearly €30k - and he has also 8 German graded sons. In the UK, French-bred Brooklyn Du Granit and British-bred T J Simba are both JA ponies and he also has over 500 progeny in France! |
