Dressage Report

With the dressage ponies and riders having passed the vet and measurement check, the order of going of the teams was drawn.  GB were drawn to go 8th of the 11 teams.  As in 2013, Rebecca Bell & Valido's Sunshine (Valido x Marieton's Jasper) were the first to go for GB and they did a polished test to gain 71.629% that took them immediately into the lead, however, the next but one rider, Lea Luise Nehls (GER) & DSP De Long (HB Daylight x Brillant), went ahead but Becca & Sunny remained in 2nd place at the end of the first round of team riders.

Next to ride for GB was Alex Hellings & Der Kleine Lord (Der Feine Lord x Chantre B) and they were amazing, doing a lovely test and gaining 73.564% and going into 2nd place just behind Lea Luise Nehls.  Indeed, 3 of the judges had Alex and "Lordie" as their top combinations!  They remained in this slot for the rest of the session, not even overtaken by the second of the German riders (Nadine Krause & Danilo 80), who had a few minor issues that just dropped their marks a little.

So at the end of the first part, with 2 riders having competed for each of the main teams, GB is in  2nd place in the team rankings, behind expected leaders Germany (with 2 scores of over 73% already).  The Netherlands, in 3rd place, have  recorded 2 plus 71% scores.  Then come Denmark and Italy.  However, with the top 3 scores to count and all teams with their strongest riders competing on Day 2, the current team positions are only an indication.  Individually, Alex is in 2nd place and Becca is in 5th - a fantastic start to the competition for GB.

Jumping Report

All the GBR Jumping ponies passed both the vet and measurement checks the day before and along with all of the other nations' teams, they had a chance to ride and jump in the fantastic main arena.  All the riders went into the arena together and could ride around the whole space and then each had time to jump a course.

The first qualifying competition for the Individual Championships, a single round against the clock at a height of 1.30m, starts at 1:30 on Thursday before the Team Championships on Friday.

Eventing Report

As with the British Dressage and Jumping teams, all the GB Eventing ponies passed both the vet and measurement checks and will start in the Dressage phase.  The first 2 riders for each team and some of the individuals compete from 2pm on Thursday with the remainder competing from 8.30am on Friday.
