Sire:

Romulus’ pedigree is filled with superb bloodlines. His sire Renoir competed to Advanced-Medium/FEI level, and his offspring include European Team Gold and Silver winning dressage pony, Rembrandt DDH as well as Pretty in Black who placed 8th for Germany in Eventing at the 2015 Pony Euros. Romulus had a fantastic book of mares his first season (2013), including the Preci Spark sport horse mares The Wexford Lady and Welton Lady (dam of 4* eventer, Treason, 12th at Burghley 2016), plus top flight JA pony Hedgefield Riverdance.

Dam:

A Pinch of Pepper is a wonderful pony, beautifully put together and the epitome of an all-round sports pony. Successfully graded by the SPSS in 2011, Pepper is refined in type with a tremendously light, ground covering stride. She has done everything with enthusiasm & is exceptionally bold. Representing her Pony Club branch in showjumping & eventing, she has numerous winnings BS affiliated showjumping, and has jumped up to Foxhunters; is a superb hunter, covering all types of terrain with ease; also a successful pony racer, she qualified for the first ever Pony Club National Pony Racing final. In her early teens she started breeding, producing 3 sons. Aged 20, Pepper came out of breeding retirement and has since Pony Raced, competed in both showjumping & eventing, been to PC Camp and qualified for the Dengie Showjumping series, proving how tough and sound she still is.

Prometheus’ siblings are all well-made with excellent, free movement & scope. They have gained First/Higher First Premiums at BEF Futurity evaluations as youngstock and as ridden horses are proving exceptionally competitive all-rounders. Prometheus’ older half-brother was placed 4th in Endurance at the PC Championships as a 5-year-old; while his second half-brother (by champion Connemara, Castle Comet) has made an excellent start in eventing and Working Hunter Pony classes.

Prometheus, aka Percy, has made a fantastic start to his ridden career, he is very trainable on the flat with lovely paces and already has established flying changes. So far, he has been carefully produced for showjumping and is presently jumping at Discovery level in Senior BS, proving to have plenty of stride to make the horse distances!

He is not yet 5 and has such a fantastic attitude to his work, one of his bigger achievements in 2017 was competing in the Senior BS 4-year-old qualifier at Hickstead, holding his own round a long and technical track and being the smallest competitor by a long shot.  He is easily jumping 1.20m at home and is incredibly brave, we are looking forward to starting eventing him in 2018 and are very excited to see what he can deliver cross country! We are certain like his mother and half-brothers he is going to be a Cross Country machine.

Offspring/Breeding Advice

Prometheus is an elegant, modern type of sports pony with excellent movement, a super jump, good bone, a calm temperament and a workmanlike attitude to life. His quality has been noted through the BEF Futurity series where he has been awarded a Higher First Premium as a foal, yearling and two-year old. He would cross well with most types of mares, but we believe he would be particularly suited to native-type mares for adding lightness, scope & jumping ability, to produce the ideal sports or working hunter pony.

We are very much looking forward to meeting Percy’s first batch of progeny who will be on the ground in spring 2018.
