Prometheus is an elegant, modern type of sports pony with excellent movement, a super jump, good bone, a calm temperament and a workmanlike attitude to life.
His results speak for themselves (see below) and with such talent, bravery, scope, and temperament he really is a top pick for both the sports pony and sporthorse breeder. He is capable of producing high quality sports ponies or adding that important ‘pony 5th leg’ agility and cleverness on larger mares.

Sire: Romulus’ pedigree is filled with superb bloodlines. His sire Renoir competed to Advanced-Medium/FEI level, and his offspring include European Team Gold and Silver winning dressage pony, Rembrandt DDH as well as Pretty in Black who placed 8th for Germany in Eventing at the 2015 Pony Euros. Romulus had a fantastic book of mares his first season (2013), including the Preci Spark sport horse mares The Wexford Lady and Welton Lady (dam of 4* eventer, Treason, 12th at Burghley 2016), plus top flight JA pony Hedgefield Riverdance.
Dam: A Pinch of Pepper is a wonderful pony, beautifully put together and the epitome of an all-round sports pony. Successfully graded by the SPSS in 2011 with a foal at foot, Pepper is refined in type with a tremendously light, ground covering stride. She has done everything with enthusiasm, and is exceptionally bold. Representing her Pony Club branch in showjumping and eventing, she has numerous winnings Junior BS affiliated showjumping, and has jumped up to Foxhunters; Pepper is a superb hunting pony, covering all types of terrain with ease; also a successful pony racer, she qualified for the first ever Pony Club National Pony Racing final. In her early teens she started breeding, producing three sons. Aged 20, Pepper came out of breeding retirement to rekindle a pony club career, and has since Pony Raced, competed in both showjumping and eventing, and been to the PC Championships for Prince Phillip Cup, proving how tough and sound she still is
Prometheus’ siblings are all well-made with excellent, free movement & scope. They have gained First/Higher First Premiums at BEF Futurity evaluations as youngstock and as ridden horses are proving exceptionally competitive all-rounders. Prometheus’ older half-brother was placed 4th in Endurance at the PC Championships as a 5-year-old; while his second half-brother (by champion Connemara, Castle Comet) has made an excellent start in eventing and Working Hunter Pony classes. |

Offspring/Breeding Advice | |
Alongside his competition schedule, Prometheus juggles a busy stud season, proving to have excellent fertility with an extremely high rate of conceptions to first inseminations.
Prometheus crosses well with any type of mare, horse or pony, and has many aspiring qualities, he is short coupled, big moving, scopey, has substance and a wonderful temperament. And he is particularly suited to adding lightness, scope and jumping ability.
He has some fabulous foals on the ground which he is really stamping with his good looks, big movement and clever pony brain. Prometheus attracts all types of mares, from Native ponies to Thoroughbreds and well bred Sport Horses, and has been chosen by some very highly regarded and experienced breeders for their mares.
His first foals were born in 2018 and are now being broken in by their amateur owner/breeders and are already showing Percy’s quality and fantastic attitude to life. One foal impressed at the SPSS 2018 Youngstock Evaluation and was awarded an SPSS Premium.
Percy did not stand at stud in 2018 in order to concentrate on starting his eventing career, but he had a very successful 2019 and 2020 breeding season, proving to have excellent fertility and has a range of quality foals on the ground from a variety of mares, while 2021 produced another abundance of good mares from pure native breeds to thoroughbred eventers and we look forward to this crop of foals arriving in 2022. |
