First Part of Dressage Team Competition

Dressage Report

All the dressage ponies and riders having passed the vet and measurement check, the order of going of the teams was drawn. GB were drawn to go 5th, but with two of the teams drawn ahead (Hungary & Italy) only having 3 riders in their teams, this meant that Rebecca Bell & Valido's Sunshine (Valido x Marieton's Jasper) were the third competitors in the ring early this morning. To avoid the hottest part of the day, the competition started at 8am and finished at 12 noon with the second half being run the next day. The second pair to compete for GB today were Rose Hugh Smith & Holsteins Derwisch (FS Disagio x Patrick). Rebecca & Valido's Sunshine scored 66.128% and Rose & Holsteins Derwisch scored 67.795%. This has put GB in to 5th place in the team rankings, behind expected leaders Germany (with 2 scores of over 75% already). The Netherlands have also recorded at plus 75% score as well as one over 71% and are currently in 2nd, ahead of Denmark and France. However, with the top 3 scores to count and all teams with their strongest riders competing on Day 2, the current team positions are only an indication.

Jumping Report

All the GBR Jumping ponies passed both the vet and measurement checks the day before and along with all of the other nations' teams, they had a chance to ride and jump in the fantastic main arena. All the riders went into the arena together and could ride around the whole space and then each had time to jump a course.

The first qualifying competition for the Individual Championships, a single round against the clock at a height of 1.30m, starts at noon on Thursday before the Team Championships on Friday.

Eventing Report

As with the British Dressage and Jumping teams, all the GB Eventing ponies passed both the vet and measurement checks and will start in the Dressage phase. The first 2 riders for each team and some of the individuals compete from 2pm on Thursday with the remainder competing from 8.30am on Friday.

The British team members and their dressage times are:

Chloe Bell (16) with Helen Bell's 12 year old gelding Strawberry Box (breeding unknown). Chloe and Strawberry Box won the first of the trials and then ........

Phoebe Locke (14) with her own 14 year old gelding Mr Otto (breeding unknown).

Chelsea Pearce (15) , from Wiltshire riding her own 18 year old SPSS Elite graded mare Catherston Nutsafe (Catherston Nightsafe x Dutch Courage). The sole combination with prior Pony Euros experience - Chelsea and Nutsafe finished on their dressage score competing as individuals in 2013 and Nutsafe has Team Gold and Silver medals with previous riders - they won the final trial at Barbury International.
