Holmegards Bastian, or 'Asti' as he affectionately known at home, has the most amazing temperament.  This kind mannerly horse is talented, trainable and strikingly beautiful.  He always gives his best and never fails to capture the attention of spectators and judges alike. 

 

Asti completed his performance life grading with the KNN in Oct 08.  His elevated paces and natural athleticism, along with his fantastic off the floor jump, gained him the highest performance marks of any Knabstrupper stallion in 2008.  As you can see, Asti would be equally suitable for both dressage and showjumping breeders alike as he has succeeded in both himself (see Performance section below).  He really is Mr versatile. 

 

A harmonious, balanced horse with athletic, off the floor paces, a huge jump and trainable temperament.  All this with the added bonus of colour.....

Sire:

Ravaldi (KNN 142) was a few spot (white born) Knabstrupper who competed in show jumping to LB level before his death in 2011. His daughter CITA Nørmark was the Champion mare at the 2005 Knabstrupper show 2005 and one of the highest scoring Knabstruppers ever. Ravaldi is also the sire of Lucas Nørmark a graded stallion in Denmark who, ridden by Grade 1a para rider Anne Dunham, won 2 individual Silver Medals and Team Gold at the 2013 European Para Dressage Championships. Ravaldi’s ancestors include top Knabstrupper bloodlines such as Don Ibrahim (KNN 92), Rasmus af Damgard (KNN 67)

 

Dam:

Kronborgdiges Bonita (KNN 2014) was bred in Denmark out of Bolette af Rødhø (KNN), a daughter of Elite stallion Poco Mejor af Silver, who is said to have sired a lot of exceptional offspring. Bolette’s dam was a Danish Warmblood by Weltstar.

 

Damsire:

Thunder Boy (KNN 096) is by the Knabstrupper Thunder Cloud, out of a mare by the famous Danish Warmblood stallion, May Sherif, who sired many Grand Prix level dressage horses including 1988 Olympic competitors Andiamo and Matador.

Since 2009, Asti has been winning British Dressage classes from Prelim to Medium, qualifying for the Regional Championships at all of these levels. He is also a successful showjumper, with numerous placings and double clears in British Novice and Discovery classes.

Asti's performance highlights:

 

• 2008 Passed Performance grading.

• 2009 Qualified British Dressage (BD) Winter Regionals.

• 2010 Won Novice Restricted class at BD Area Festival. First year at British Showjumping (BS). Jumping double clears Novice & Discovery, placed in both 90cm and 1m 2nd rounds.

• 2011 Qualified for 2012 BD Winter Regionals at Novice Open. Consistently placed with numerous wins; 70 points gained in 6 month qualifying period. Placed 1st & 2nd in his first elementary classes. Successfully jumping BS with numerous placings and double clears in British Novice and Discovery.

• 2012 Qualified BD Summer Regionals (Novice Open) & for 2013 Winter Regionals (Elementary Restricted).

• 2013 6th at BD Summer Regionals (Elementary Restricted) finished year working at medium level.

• 2014 Many wins and top 3 places at BD Medium Open level.

• 2015 Many wins and top 3 places at BD Medium Open & Advanced Medium levels, qualified for 2016 Winter Regional Championships at both levels in both music and standard classes.

• 2016 3rd at the Morris Equestrian Winter Regional Championships at Advanced Medium Open, 4th at Medium Open Music and 3rd at Medium Open level.   More wins and top 3 places at BD Medium & Advanced Medium levels (both in Gold sections), qualified for 2016 Summer Regional Championships at both levels and was 6th at Medium Gold. Training and competing at Premier League shows at FEI (Prix St Georges) level

 

Offspring/Breeding Advice

This stallion has all the attributes of a top class competition sire. He has the most amazing temperament and exemplifies all the breed characteristics. He really is Mr versatile, suitable for both Dressage and Show Jumping breeders alike.

 

A harmonious balanced horse with athletic off the floor paces, a huge jump and very trainable temperament with the added bonus of colour! His first foals were born in 2013/14 and they, as well as all those born since, have all inherited his fantastic temperament and trainability.  The oldest are now backed and a proving to be very trainable with genuine straightforward temperaments.
