Sire:

SPSS Elite graded Danger 36 was graded Westfälisches Pferdestammbuch and in his performance test he placed 2nd out of 39 ponies then, as a 5 year old, Danger was a Bundeschampionat finalist, placing 4th in the Dressage Pony Class. He competed successfully in Germany, before moving to Sweden where in 2003 he represented Sweden at the Pony European Championships in Necarne, Ireland and finished 8th in the Team Test and 9th in the Individual Test. Danger then returned to Germany and continued to compete internationally before moving to the UK and, in 2010, he represented GB at the CDIP at Pompadour, France ridden by Chloe Vell and they were 5th in the consolation test. In 2011, they competed for GB at the Pony Internationals at Addington and Roosendaal (where they were 7th in the Team Test).

Danger's sire, Davis Cup, was 3rd at the Bundeschampionships as a 3yo then went on to win over €3,000 in dressage competitions. He is by Desteny who has both the great Premium Stallions Dandy & Valentino in his pedigree. Desteny was 4yo Riding Pony Vice-Bundeschampion & competed successfully at “S level”. Davis Cup’s dam, Jasmin is a Welsh Sec B whose ancestors include the famous Downland Chevalier. His dam, Night Lady, is State Premium graded and also the dam of other successful FEI ponies & graded Stallions including Lukas, the sire of SL Lucci (the 2013 double European Dressage Pony Individual Gold medallist who also won Kur & Team Silver medals for GB in 2014 & Team Bronze in 2013 (GB) & 2011 (DEN)) and GB Team stalwart, Langar (who won Dressage Team Bronze in 2003 & 2005).  His damsire, Night-Star I, was the Champion of his Licensing in 1983 and later also Champion of his Performance Test. He became the Reserve Bundeschampion of jumping ponies in 1987, and went on to produce many licensed stallions (including several licensing champions) and had many daughters awarded the State Premium title. He is the sire of the successful Eventing pony Nelusko who won Team Gold for Germany in 1996 & 2002, Individual Bronze in 1996 and Individual Gold in 2000. He is also the damsire of Donnerblitz, another GB team pony. Night-Star I is considered to be one of the best sons of the sire Nalet, the purebred Russian Arabian sire who became one of the foundation stallions of German Riding Pony breeding.

Dam:

SPSS Elite graded Tiger Lily is a Westfalian mare who graded into the SPSS Head Studbook in 2006 and was Champion at the 2007 SPSS In-Hand Premium Show. Her dam, Eboli, has classic riding pony and Welsh ancestry from her sire, Nordstar, combined with Thoroughbred and Trakehner from her dam.  She is also the dam of the SPSS graded stallions LE Chiffre and Godrics Cryptnite (both by Caesar 171).  LE Chiffre (known as "Peanut"), her eldest UK born foal,  became the first SPSS passported pony to compete internationally when, in 2013, aged just 6 years, he went into training with Chloe Vell and represented GB at the Hickstead International which gained him and Tiger Lily the SPSS ELITE accolade with the SPSS. In 2014, Peanut and his new rider, Lara Kuropatwa, competed internationally for GB at Addington CDIPJY, Saumur CDIPJY and Compiegne CDIPJY and they scored over 70% on two occasions. As a result, they were named as Reserves for the 2014 GB Pony Euros Dressage Team. Lara and Peanut continued to compete internationally in 2015 before securing a place on the British Team for the 2016 FEI Pony Euros in Vilhelmsborg, Denmark. At the 2016 Pony Euros, Peanut was the highest placed British Pony overall, placing 10th in the team test, 11th individually and 8th in the Kur and scoring over 70% in each class. In 2017, with new rider Charlotte McDowell, Peanut again did well internationally and was selected to compete for GB at the 2017 Pony Euros but sadly he was taken ill just before the ferry journey and had to be withdrawn from the team.

Damsire:

Donnerwetter is one of several graded sons of Kaprice, a State Premium Mare who, as a 3 year old, was Bundeschampion in 1990. Kaprice's other notable offspring include the 1999 30-Day Stallion Test Reserve Champion, De Vito (by Dressman I), who later represented GB at the Pony European Championships and the SPSS Elite sire Top Yellow (by Till The Champ). Donnerwetter's sire is the highly acclaimed, Dancer (known as Broomford Dancer in the UK), who was a fully graded and performance tested Rheinland pony. Dancer was one of the first ponies to represent multiple nations at Pony FEI Level, winning Team Bronze for the Netherlands in 1993 and for Great Britain in 1997. Dancer was also a top sire with another of his sons, Golden Dancer, being a multiple Gold medal winning International dressage pony. Dancer's name appears in the pedigrees of many current International dressage ponies.

Godrics Dionysus (aka Haymitch) is a beautiful young stallion with fantastic movement, looks and a truly outstanding temperament, being competed and attending BD youth camp with a 12 year old rider at just 4 years old.

In January 2020, 4 year old Haymitch was bought from his breeders by dressage rider Eleanor Darling and Patricia Pomp.  Having proved to be quick to learn and very trainable, in July, Haymitch and Elly qualified for  the Nexgen 4 year old Pony Final and then at the final, where due to low pony entries they coombined the pony and horse entries, he was not only the top pony but also an amazing 5th place out of 24 entries.

The day after the Nexgen Final, Elly and Haymitch qualified for the 4 year old class at British Dressage Young Pony Championship then repeated their Nexgen success by becoming the 2020 4 Year Old BD Young Pony Champions too.

In early September 2020, Elly and Pat said that "due to his outstanding temperament we decided it was time we gave someone younger a chance to have the ride" and they chose 12 year old Daisy.  Daisy and Haymitch quickly formed such a good partnership that they attended BD Youth Camp the next month and as Elly said at the time "these two are going places together".   Haymitch and Daisy started their BD competition career in October 2020, scoring over 70% in their first test and in two outings (4 tests) they achieved 2 wins, a second and a third.

Since then, Daisy and Haymitch have:

  • Won the British Dressage Young Pony 5 year old class at the Keysoe Premier League in April 2021.

  • Won the Preliminary Silver class at the Keysoe Winter Area Festival with 72.99% in April 2021.

  • Reserve Champions in the NAF Five Star Winter Dressage Championships Winter Area Festival Preliminary (U21) Championship in July 2021.

  •  Placed 2nd in the 2021 British Dressage 5 Year Old Young Pony Championship.

  • Placed 12th in the Brook Farm Equestrian Club Summer Area Festival Novice Silver class in July 2021.

  • Placed 12th in the Keysoe Summer Regional Summer Regional Championship Prelim Gold class in August 2021.

  • At the Sheepgate Under 25 Championships, placed 2nd at Elementary and won at Novice and Novice Freestyle to Music in August 2021.

  • Placed 12th in the Keysoe Winter Area Festival Elementary Bronze class in January 2021.

In 2023 he competed for GB at the Addington CDIP and so earned the coveted SPSS ELITE graded status.

Offspring/Breeding Advice

In 2020, as a 4 year old, Haymitch was presented for SPSS eAssessment and given a provisional SPSS licence for 2020 and 2021.  He was then seen at a full SPSS Grading in August 2021, where he really impressed and was the 2021 SPSS Stallion Grading Champion.

Haymitch's first foal was born in 2021, a lovely filly who was awarded a coveted SPSS Gold Premium.

Haymitch is concentrating on his ridden career but he is one to watch for the future.
