Tempest was bred in Ireland by the Curran family, and purchased by us as a foal. His pedigree includes many of Ireland's most prolific Connemara performance stallions, who in turn have produced numerous top class international ponies across the disciplines.
Sire: His sire, Coosheen Stormboy, is a grandson of the world renowned Ashfield Bobby Sparrow, who won individual gold at the Pony European Showjumping Championships in 1980 (the first Connemara stallion ever to do so). Coosheen Stormboy has sired many successful international performance ponies including Aoife's Star and Laburnum Ineer, who have both represented Ireland at Pony European Eventing Championships. In the Showjumping world his son Cappagh Lad is successfully competing at 1.30m.
Dam: Tempest's dam Mountross Colleen is a superb mare in her own right, with numerous show ring titles to her name. She has produced 12 foals to date including Tempest's full brother, Glencarrig Dolphin, who has outstanding form at BE Novice and FEI Pony Trial level in the UK.
Damsire: Her sire, Coral Star, was a son of the Grade A jumping pony Cuchulain, who also won the stallion class at Clifden in 1986. |

Tempest was licensed by the CPBS in February 2019 then presented to the SPSS for grading in the September.
The grading judges, including the well known Hanoverian breeder and judge, Herr Hans-Heinrich Bruening, loved his confirmation saying that his neck was "very pleasing and well set" and that he had "good overall conformation". They also praised the overtrack and purpose of his walk and his attitude to the loose jumping and as an overall comment said he was "a nice stallion with the potential to produce sports ponies of the future". |
