Dark Knight has a superb temperament yet sharp and such a work ethic and trainability. He is quite fine boned for a pony - very much a scaled down horse.

Dark Knight's sire, Dressman I is one of the most successful FEI dressage ponies ever. Before retiring to stud in 2007, at the age of 19, he had been ridden by 3 different German pony riders and won a total of 6 team Gold medals and 2 individual Golds.  Champion of his licensing in 1991, he then won the 30 day stallion test in 1992 and was the first pony ever to win the Bundeschampionate four years running.  As a sire, Dressman has at least 230 graded sons, over 20 State Premium daughters and numerous Bundeschampion and Vice-Bundeschampion winners.

Dark Knight’s dam line is no less successful than the paternal line. Gina, a State Premium mare, was Reserve winning mare of the Weser-Ems state show and her dam, Giana, by the notable Weser Ems sire, Brillant, was German Champion mare. Giana’s dam, Gina, was a Welsh Sec B.

Dark Knight's damsire is Folklore who is a grandson of the famous Downland Folklore who, as the sire of many graded stallions, is a key influence in modern Sports Pony breeding and was posthumously declared an Elite stallion in the Netherlands. On his dam's side, Folklore has Welsh and Arab ancestry. Folklore's sire, Ponny Power Darling Boy is also known as Power Boy and is the sire of the successful Dutch competition stallion Power and Paint (winner of 6 Pony Team Silver medals as well as individual Silver and Bronze medals). Power Boy is also the damsire of 2010 Pony European Individual Gold medallist Danilo and of International ponies Desmond and Danny Boy B.

Dark Knight’s nine full siblings have proved their superb dressage abilities in Germany. The eldest, Der Feine Lord, was on the German gold medal winning European team in 2009 and won many national and state awards. Dance Star AT was Bundeschampion at five years old and vice bundeschampion twice over.

Dark Knight shows the family traits of the powerful long strides, superb ability to collect and quick, trainable temperament. In time he is sure to follow Der Feine Lord and become a dressage pony any nation would be proud to have on their team.

Offspring/Breeding Advice

Dark Knight gained premium grade at his Westfalen stallion licensing. His full siblings of 6 licensed stallions and 3 state premium mares complete this illustrious family so far. His full brothers are proving successful sires of top class riding ponies in Germany. Now Dark Knight gives British breeders the opportunity to draw from Dressman and Gina’s superb genes.

A strong family trait is possession of the sweetest of temperaments and one would expect this, along with the powerful athletic paces, to continue through to the next generations. 2016 was Dark Knight’s first stud season and first foals are due in 2017. His semen is excellent quality and all his 2016 mares took first time.
