Butleigh Silver Flyer is a pure bred Welsh Section A. Welsh Section A ponies have been around since pre-Roman times, they were tamed and used by hill farmers as pack ponies and for riding. These ponies are highly intelligent and resourceful along with being bold and sure-footed. They tend to be happy tackling and jumping any obstacle in their path, be it in the show ring or in the wild and, despite his young age, Silver Flyer has already proved this in competition.

Weston Distinction has been the major stud sire at Ceulan (the oldest Welsh Pony Stud in the world) since 2009.  One of the top Section A Show stallions since 2009, Weston Distinction's winnings include 1st/25 Royal Welsh 2009, 4th/28 Royal Welsh 2010, 2nd/29 Royal Welsh 2012, 2014 Champion and Supreme Pembroke County, 2015 3rd/21 Royal Welsh. In 2016 he was shown under saddle winning the Picton at Northleach but just missed qualifying for HOYS. In 2017 Distinction was back in hand winning 2nd/45 at the National Championships, 1st and Champion at Vale of Glamorgan, 1st and Reserve Champion at Monmouth etc. Distinction has sired about 10 foals a year at Ceulan, many of whom have done very well at major shows and been successful producers.

Rhesfair Faith was one of the last foals by her sire and was Butleigh Stud’s only Sec A mare, having 4 other foals born at Ceulan before being sold to Cosford Stud in 2014. Her bloodlines go back to Coed Coch blood and the legendary Coed Coch Madog who was Champion Sec A at the Royal Welsh an outstanding 9 times with many of his progeny also becoming Champion in later years.

Sunwillow Pesaro (foaled in 1982) was sired by Coed Coch Salsbri (foaled in 1957) who was also the sire of Coed Coch Bari (who sold for a record breaking £21,000) and Coed Coch Saled (£14,000 in the Coed Coch Sale in 1978).  Pesaro's dam, Sunwillow Bernina (foaled 1968) is the most famous of all the Sunwillow ponies.

Flyer is truly an all rounder and is highly intelligent, he gives his all in everything he does.

In 2017 he was the Northern Sector Champion stallion; SPSS Stallion Grading Scottish Champion & overall Reserve Supreme Stallion; placed in every HOYS qualifier both flat ridden & working hunter; won many Blair NPS qualifiers at local county shows across Scotland in both flat & workers then finished in the top 3 at Blair International Horse Show in both the working hunter & flat ridden classes. He also evented at local ODEs as well as competing at dressage and showjumping.

He has won many Championships across England & Scotland in 2016/17 and he was the 2016 WPCS Performance Show Supreme Points Winner and Novice Supreme. He will continue to compete with his small adult rider as he so much to achieve.

Offspring/Breeding Advice

With outstanding bloodlines, known to be “bred in the purple”, and praised by the SPSS Grading Judges as being an ‘impressive young sports pony stallion with super character’ Flyer would be perfect for breeding an around competition/sports horse/pony, for dressage, showing, showjumping or eventing as he is very versatile with a huge jump.
