7/8 TB x Sports Pony. Proven breeding & competition stallion. Grandson of Badminton, Burghley & Kentucky winner Headley Britannia, with foals now on the ground.

Eventing bloodlines in the purple, Britannia’s Bijou is an exciting and unique young international competition and breeding prospect with internationally renowned parents – daughter of legendary 5* eventing champion Headley Britannia & Elite graded sports pony stallion Littledale Bright Star. Britannia’s Bijou has endless scope - effortlessly jumping 140cm, classic technique, three beautiful paces and a superbly relaxed and trainable temperament.

After his first two years on the eventing and SJ scene, he’s had numerous placings up to 105 BE and up to 120 SJ. Like Britannia’s Mail, he manages his competition and stud duties admirably throughout the season.

Britannia’s Bijou’s sire is the Elite graded sports pony stallion Littledale Bright Star – a high quality sports pony stallion that has competed at everything from Vaulting to Show Jumping. He is the only SPSS stallion that has sired international progeny in all the Olympic disciplines.

With his first foal on the ground and more foals due in 2024, Britannia’s Bijou’s fertility is proven.

Sire:

Littledale Bright Star is a top SPSS Elite graded sire - a high quality stallion that has done everything from vaulting to showjumping and driving.  He is only 12.2hh but was the first SPSS passported stallion to sire a pony or horse competing in FEI international competitions as his son Prairie Star (x O Malley)  completed the 2* (now 3*) International 3 Day Event at Hartpury in 2012.  Another son, SPSS passported, Catherston Bit of Gold (x Catherston Gold Eagle), was clear in the 1.25m class at the 2015 Keysoe 2* International Showjumping (CSI) competition and he was awarded the SPSS Dancer Medal in 2016 to mark this achievement.  Then he was awarded the 2017 Pony Performance & Breeding Award in recognition of his being the first SPSS passported pony to have sired a pony or horse competing in each of FEI Dressage, Show Jumping and Eventing international competitions as his  SPSS passported son, Beaurepaire Frodo (x Florencio I) made it a “full house” in the Olympic disciplines when he competed in the 2017 Keysoe CDIP.

Littledale Bright Star's sire, Catherston Nightsafe, was leased to Germany for 2 seasons being awarded Lifetime Breeding permission with 2 of his first offspring being Chantre B (National Champion male 2 year old and a succesful stallion in his own right with 9 progeny regsitered with the FEI) & Nightmare (National Champion female 2 year old). His daughter, Catherston Nutsafe was a member of the British Pony Event Team on 5 occasions, winning Team Gold in 2010 and Team Silver in 2008, 2009 & 2015 and being Individually placed 4th, 5th & 6th.

Catherston Nightsafe’s grand sire Bubbly, was National Palomino Champion for 10 years and the sire of Catherston Red Gold who sired Dandy, founder of the famous “D” line of ponies in Germany.

Littledale Bright Star's dam Gwersyllt Town Mouse had a long career as a lead rein then First Ridden pony winning a number of county shows with 3 different riders including 2nd at Ponies UK Championships and 2nd at Hickstead in the First Ridden class.  She was much loved and had impeccable breeding with some of the best Welsh and riding pony bloodlines available.
