Bernwode Brokat (Weser-Ems) SPSS Elite Graded stallion and International FEI dressage pony. He had an outstanding competition career and is a prolific producer of top quality youngstock.

His career highlights are:

  • 2013 GB Dressage Pony European Championships Team Reserve

  • 2012 Winner of the SPSS sponsored BEF Pony Performance & Breeding Award and awarded SPSS Elite status in recognition of his having represented GB in international FEI competitions

  • 2009, 2010 & 2011 BEF Futurity 'Leading Sire of Sports Ponies' in the UK based on his foals to 3 yr olds.

  • 2009 SPSS Dancer Medal

In addition, he was the sire of 2010 Stallion Grading Champion (Bernwode Broadway), 2014 Reserve Stallion Grading Champion (Delaroche Brillanz) and Mare Grading Champions in 2009 (Mademoiselle) & 2013 (Bernwode Golden Delicious).  His 2006 daughter Delaroche Birthday Girl won the 4 year old class at 2010 Young Dressage Pony Championships and was Reserve Champion overall and his 2006 son, Bernwode Broadway, represented GB at the 2016 Keysoe FEI CDIP.

Bernwode Brokat was bred in Germany and imported as a two year old but his sire Brillant was a British Riding Pony who had been exported to Germany, renamed, graded and then became a prolific sire of successful dressage and jumping ponies, as well as State Premium daughters and over 30 licensed sons.  Brokat's dam, Cornelia, was a German Head Studbook Mare whose damline descended from top class British Riding Ponies including Bwlch Valentino. Brokat's damisre, Diamant II, won a Gold Medal for Germany as a member of the 1982 European Pony Dressage Team and also sired a large number of licensed sons and State Premium daughters.

Chaneira (Oldenburg) SPSS Elite graded Mare, bred most notably;

  • CRUZ (by Caesar 171). He has represented Great Britain at International FEI Pony Level and won several National Dressage Championships, most recently the Prix St George Winter Championships in 2020.

  • MIDDLETON (by Midnight Stars). SPSS South Wales and Western England Champion Mare at her grading in 2015 with 78.33%.

  • CONEYBURY (by Hilkens Charismatic). She graded with 78.33% into the SPSS Main Studbook in 2017.

Don Larino (Oldenburg). Bundeschampion in 1999, he was predominantly used as a breeding stallion and produced a significant number of horses which either went into breeding or onto a dressage career.  In 2012, when he moved to stand in Finland, Eurodressage reported: "Don Larino's most famous offspring  offspring include Verden World Young Horse Champion finalist Don Massimo, Spanish junior riders' team horse Don Luka, Marion Engelen's Grand Prix horse Diego, Fiona Bigwood's Grand Prix horse Don Laurean, and 2008 U.S. Small Tour champion Don Angelo. At the 2006 Vechta Spring Elite auction the Don Larino offspring Donna Medici sold for Ä140,000".  Don Larino's grandsire is the legendary Donnerhall who won individual  Bronze at the 1994 World Equestrian Games and the 1997 European Championship as well as team gold on both occasions and at the 1998 World Equestrian Games.  His influence as a sire is still strong - at the 2012 Olympics in London there were 3 dressage horse by Donnerhall himself (Donnperignon, Damon Hill and Digby). Then there were his descendents - Dablino, Donnerfee and Desperados (all 3 by De Niro) then  DíNiro (by D-Day), Diva Royal (by Don Frederico), Don Auriello (by Don Davidoff), Dorina (by Don Schufro).

Bickley (pictured left with his SPSS Elite graded dam) received a GOLD PREMIUM from the SPSS as a foal in 2017 with a score of 83%.

He was started under saddle during 2020 and proving very trainable and willing, with the combination of two exceptional blood lines the future is very bright for this young man.

As a 3 year old in 2020

Offspring/Breeding Advice

In 2020, as a 3 year old, Bickley was presented for SPSS eAssessment and given a provisional SPSS licence for 2020 and 2021 prior to being seen at a full SPSS Grading in mid-late 2021.

2021 will be his first year at stud
